Site Based Council
We are very proud of our partnership and collaboration with students, staff, parents and the community of Independence High School. We call this partnership our Site Based Council. It is comprised of students, parents, teachers, community partners and administrators. We have worked diligently for the past two years working together on our culture, climate, academics and attendance here at our school. We meet monthly to plan and coordinate our efforts. This year we continued to work on attendance issues and offer incentives. We also worked together to give students incentives for their honor roll and academic honors each grading period. Our site based council also works to beautify our school. We decorated the hallways and brought school spirit back to the students. We are also in the beginning stages of working with all the schools that feed into Independence High School. Last school year, we started the school year with a back to school rally that included all our feeder schools. This was a huge event and it further shows how well our community works together for the good of all our students.   Read More >
